AH-64D Apache Attack Helicopter, configured for East Afghanistan, 3rd Infantry Division, circa 2012-13. Acrylic on Canvas. Print available in 24x18, Matte Finish. Signed by the artist.
The AH-64 Apache is unquestionably the most lethal and capable attack helicopter in the world. A mainstay for the United States Army and many allied nations of America, this original Hughes Aircraft 70’s design has evolved from McDonnell Douglas to Boeing as manufacturers. An ever-present companion to American Ground Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, this painting features the Apache as it is perceived by those that are out of time.
The aircraft can take a beating, flies in excess of 140 MPH, and possesses a tremendous amount of firepower delivered by talented men and women committed to defeating anyone they face on the battlefield — they train exhaustively in this endeavor, proven by data showing the Apache has accounted for more destroyed enemy equipment and personnel than any other American Platform in the Global War on Terror.
Pilots will say their favorite weapon is the 30mm High Explosive Dual-Purpose round. The gun shakes the entire aircraft when fired, smells up the cockpit, and makes engagements very personal. My favorite are rockets — you have to be good to shoot them well; when you do, it feels great. Missiles are anti-climactic at launch, but man are they powerful. Such a wonderful machine.
